Reporting to the Associate Manager, Chief Underwriter Organization, the incumbent will be an integral part of the Performance Management Team which contributes to the ongoing quality and development of our underwriters in all locations. This is a permanent full-time position.   Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be fully remote within Canada.   Accountabilities: - Complete broad underwriting audits on individual life insurance underwriting decisions and preparing quarterly risk reports for management. - Complete targeted underwriter audits in support of an underwriter’s quality assessment. - Identify training gaps through the audit process and develop training material to be delivered to the underwriting teams. - Assist with the review, revision, publication and maintenance of our life underwriting guidelines. - Special project work aimed at reviewing competitive information and looking for opportunities to make improvements to our life underwriting guidelines and policies. This entails working with our reinsurers and other areas such as Legal, Pricing, Claims, Client Service, etc. - Act as an underwriting Subject Matter Expert (SME) on projects when changes are being implemented that will impact Underwriters (process changes, reprice, new product launch, etc.), to ensure we are aligned with the changes and have transition rules in place. - Develop expertise in compliance guidelines as they apply to underwriting. This expertise will be used to ensure that there is a clear understanding of the requirements across all teams through the audit and training process.  Qualifications and Competencies: - Bachelor's degree in related field - At least seven years experience as an individual life insurance underwriter - Critical thinker - An advocate for continual improvement - Comprehensive knowledge of our underwriting philosophies, guidelines and manuals - Comprehensive knowledge of our underwriting systems - Ability to work well independently and in a team setting - Superior written and verbal communication - FALU and FLMI designations an asset - Bilingual English and French an asset - Experience administering SharePoint sites an asset Be your best at Canada Life- Apply today!   We are Canada Life   Being a part of Canada Life means you have a voice. The Investment Dealer Accounting Team is part of the Financial Operations Team within Individual Customer Finance.  The team is responsible for accounting and related financial reporting for Canada Life and closely associated legal entities. This position specifically will have responsibility for Canada Life Securities Ltd. (CLSL). The Assistant Manager will be responsible for completing mandatory financial reporting, financial transactions, analysis, reconciliations, as well as leading a team in a highly deadline driven environment. The individual will manage the distribution of work within the team, provide guidance, coaching and performance management.
