This position is responsible for carrying out established procedures to ensure all Canada Life Digital Hub products meet minimum company standards and end user requirements.  Thoroughly tests applications to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects.  Documents all problems and works to resolve them.  This role requires the ability to handle a complex workload with minimal guidance.  In addition, this position demands strong leadership qualities and a solution-oriented approach to problems.  The incumbent is expected to recommend and work with departmental management to implement improvements to current Quality Assurance practices. Includes the following major duties, responsibilities and results needed for success (rather than detailed work routines) associated with the position. Application Testing / Project Work The successful candidate will be responsible for quality assurance/control during the testing and production phases of all software development projects.  This includes: - Active participation on project teams to represent the interests of the Quality Assurance department. - Handling very complex workloads and frequently may be called upon to act as a team lead on complex projects. - Testing of complex functionality. - Development and documentation of application test plans and test cases based on business requirements. - Execution and validation of test cases based on defects and new development. - Identify and documenting defects when performing test execution.  Track problems in defect tracking tool to ensure overall quality of software releases. - Effectively using QA tools and systems. - Creating and maintaining supporting testing documentation. - Triage and investigation of client feedback based on user acceptance testing. - Working on special assignments, in addition to current workload. Leadership Will often lead project teams, which involves; - Representing Quality Assurance department in project meetings / agile ceremonies. - Prioritization and delegation of tasks. - Monitoring and communicating QA project team progress. - Determining whether additional effort or resources are required by the QA project team in order to keep projects on track with timelines (may involve consultation with QA management). - Conveying to their team the urgency of assignments, advising of any necessity for discretionary effort. - Providing feedback on performance of team members to QA management. - Provides support and direction to less experienced staff, including mentoring of new employees. - Actively contributes to process and quality improvements including participation in or chairing of committees and task forces. - May be involved in departmental resourcing decisions with QA management. - May be expected to take on a leadership role in the absence of QA management. - Act as liaison between management and staff. - Identify learning opportunities within the department. - Establish best practices and determine most effective method to present to the group. - Actively supports and promotes the Quality Assurance components of the Canada Life / Digital Hub Corporate Initiatives. The Information Security Analyst is part of the first line of cyber defense team, working with I.T. and business partners to help them understand and manage information security risks and comply with the organizational information security policies. The role also supports the delivery of analysis-based cyber security services to our internal clients across Canada including threat intelligence and vulnerability assessments. These positions may be either Information Security Analyst II (intermediate) or Information Security Analyst III (senior) depending upon experience and other qualifications.   This position report to the Manager, Information Security and supports Technology Risk, Canada Technology. She/he champions and contributes to the development of standards, tools, processes and best practices.   What you will do  - Building and maintaining data ingestion pipelines to populate big data platform environments focused primarily on an Azure Synapse ecosystem using toolsets such as (but not limited to): - Azure Data Factory - Azure Databricks - Azure Synapse - Azure Data Lake (Gen 2) - Identify and implement the optimal data ingestion method technology for a batch processing solution using a variety of ELT/ELT toolsets to develop/support batch processing solutions - Identify transformation logic to be used in the Mapping Data Flow in Azure Data Factory Design batch and near real-time processing solutions including streaming - Design, implement, and support scheduled data pipelines from a variety of sources into Azure ecosystem - Manage the data lifecycle, design Azure Data Storage Solutions and recommend a solution based on requirements which includes data archival and restoration - Assisting users, when required, in troubleshooting data extract errors and data pipeline execution issues - Experience in key aspects of platform performance health and availability monitoring and administration in a 24x7 production environment, which would include on-call support - Strong communication and presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with large and small technical audiences including ability to influence senior level executives  What you will bring  - Extensive knowledge working with Microsoft Azure ecosystem and strong knowledge about ADLS, Blob Storage, Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks - Understanding of multiple cloud data platforms - Technical background with RDBMS (i.e. SQL Server, DB2 LUW and zOS) and non-relational systems (Mainframe, Hadoop-based systems etc.) to build ingestions from variety of disparate data sources - Demonstrated use of big data ecosystem tools to ingest/transform structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data (i.e. ADF, Python) - Strong experience of Data Operations - Strong background in Unix and Windows integrated environments including scripting, batch processing, etc. - Ability to show flexibility, initiative, and innovation when dealing with ambiguous and fast paced situations - Communication and presentation experience with proven track record of using insights to influence executives and colleagues Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Toronto, London, Winnipeg.    Be your best at Canada Life- Apply today!   We are Canada Life   Being a part of Canada Life means you have a voice.
