The marketing specialist is responsible for developing marketing strategies for advisor, plan sponsor, and plan member audiences. The marketing specialist will create plans that reach the audiences with compelling messages developed to promote the product or service and reinforce Canada Life as a thought leader in the industry. Led by Associate Manager, Marketing, the marketing specialist must foster collaboration, and ensure tone, messaging, and strategy are consistent across channels.

What you will do
- Provide marketing recommendations and develop effective marketing strategies and launch execution plans.
- Collaborate with internal business partners, colleagues and our distribution teams.
- Inspire creativity among team members to ensure marketing materials land with impact.
- Define, monitor and track marketing utilization, performance, and digital analytics to optimize efforts and report to stakeholders.
- Effectively manage projects and communicate updates to stakeholders and business partners
- Strategizes and identifies trends, emerging tools / media / channels for communicating with customers.
- Understands marketing best practices and brand strategies
- Identify and be receptive to new approaches, implement creativity and risk-taking while protecting the core messages.
What you will bring
- 3 years of marketing & communications experience
- University degree, in Marketing or Business
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proven project management skills
- Ability to prioritize, focus and balance multiple priorities at all times
- Exceptional relationship management and collaboration skills; receptive to new approaches, implement creativity and risk-taking while protecting the core messages
- Understanding of group benefits plans, trends and competitive environment; aware of and anticipates key trends is an asset

This is an entry-level role within the Marketing and Communications team in Canada Life’s Group Customer division.
Your primary responsibility will be to support communications specialists in major group retirement and group benefits product and service projects.
Working with guidance from a communications specialist, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in strategic communications plans with everyday Canadians as your target audience.
You’ll help execute on tactics, which includes excellent writing and editing using plain language principles, creative thinking and collaboration with graphic designers to make messages come to life.

What you’ll do every day:
- Research, write and edit marketing and communications content and collateral (i.e., eNewsletters, email campaigns, brochures, presentations, articles, etc.)
- Coordinate approval of content with various partners throughout Canada Life, including Group Customer leadership
- Track collateral through the graphic design, translation and French proofreading process
- Support the creation of collateral – writing, editing, proofreading – to ensure it’s error-free
- Ensure all content and collateral is executed following the company brand guidelines and messaging
- Manage various deadlines, while providing writing and editing assistance to other members of the communications team
- Capture collateral for document security, centralized storage and audit control
You’ll find success if you have:
- A degree in communications, public relations, English, journalism or media and information and/or a post-secondary diploma in corporate communications
- Strong business writing and marketing writing skills – you’ll need to submit samples or do writing exercises as part of the selection process
- Demonstrated interpersonal, organization and time-management skills
